The 100th Millrose Games
What can I say about the Millrose Games. It's a commercial break right now. I've been watching for 52 minutes (which, unfortunately in TV terms means about five events) and I'm ready to shed a tear for the beauty of athletes achieving such purity through personal struggle.
Oh, did I mention that they have high school events at this meet? That's how we do it in track. High schoolers get a chance to run at the same meet as Carl Lewis, Jesse Owens, and my newest fave: Tirunesh Dibaba.
I'm also reminded to be extra thankful that Slate has recently become such a superstar runner. Runners are hot.
Turn it on tomorrow at 2 on NBC. C'mon, what are you doing at 2 on saturday.

The sacrifice of a volunteer
Erika, Ryan, and Tim are volunteering at the "Super 5k" this sunday in novi.
link.
The projected temperature range for Sunday? high: 8. low: -1.
I made the case to Erika that we should volunteer at a few races each year as the duty of a community-focused runner. Now I'm thinking:
That better be one FINE t-shirt!
